Biography

Heidi Wexelsen Goksøyr, b.17.12.66, graduated as a carpenter of
furniture in 1989. She worked in the design department of Norwegian
Broadcasting Corporation ( NRK ) for several years before she
decided to pursue a career in photography. In search of more knowledge
and skills, she participated in a number of cours and work-shops and
attended the Department of Photography at the University of Prague
( FAMU ) in 1994.
In 1993 she made her debut at the National Annual Exhibition in Oslo,
and has since then participated in a numerous groupexhibitions. Goksøyr
has had a number of soloshows and is represented in a growing
number of public and private collections. She has recieved many
grants for her work. She lives in Nittedal in Norway, and has her studio in Oslo.
This has been written about her: After her debut in 1993, Goksøyr has in a few years established her position
in Norwegian contemporary art and has in recent years been firmly placed among the growing number
of acclaimed Norwegians artists. Using photography as her medium, she offers a spectactulare view to a
visual world rarely seen before. Rather than leaning towards the current trend of conseptual photography,
the work of Goksøyr speaks in a much more immediate, visual language.
